Guys, I need a little help getting through to a friend of mine. Her two younger sisters and their two pet cats moved in with their father over two years ago. My friend recently found out that the two cats have been locked in a basement for close to eighteen months without flea treatments and vet visits.

The male cat has fleas so bad all the hair has fallen off his rear half, he’s anemic and according to my friend sits at the top of the stairs meowing constantly for attention he doesn’t get.

The female has become antisocial and hisses if a human approaches her, and her fur has begun to fall out as well because of the flees and resulting infections.

My friend’s younger sisters are not allowed to bring the cats out of the basement to play with them and their father refuses to take the cats to the vet or ‘spend any more money trying to keep the damned fleas off’.

My friend’s sisters have accepted this and won’t try to argue with him, and my friend burst into tears telling me about it but is too afraid to upset her father and sisters to take the cats away.

I have met these cats guys, they are beautiful long hair Ragamuffin Maine Coon mixes and were the sweetest, gentlest cats I’ve ever encountered and it physically makes me sick thinking of them locked away in a basement without attention and love.

These cats were her sisters’ babies for God sake and I don’t know what happened!

Please, PLEASE help me try to convince my friend to go and rescue these poor babies.
